Junior Investigator Travel Awards

Funding has been provided by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease to provide a limited number of competitive travel awards to junior investigators. These awards are intended to enable junior investigators to attend the conference who would not otherwise be able to pay for their travel and attendance. For this award, junior investigators will be defined as investigators and researchers who are not more than five years beyond their doctorate (Ph.D.) or residency (M.D, etc.) or pre-doctoral master’s level students. Priority will be given to researchers coming from non-industrialized nations. Foreign award recipients are responsible for arranging their own entry into the US for the conference.

For award recipients, registration costs will be reduced from $450 to $164 for double occupancy rooms. Registration costs include accommodation, all meals, conference participation and space for a poster presentation. In order to provide as many awards as possible, recipients may be provided space in a double-occupancy room with another award recipient of the same gender.

Awards will be provided through reimbursement of travel costs up to $1,000 US Dollars. Only travel costs (flights, trains, cab fare) will be reimbursed. No meals or other costs will be reimbursed through this award. Travel fees in excess of the award will be the responsibility of the recipient.

All award recipients will be required to submit an abstract, and prepare a poster for the poster sessions on Day 2 and 3.
